Format & Conversion

PSD to PNG

Convert PSD images to PNG. Photoshop PSD is built for layered Photoshop work, and is unreadable to most non-Adobe software; PNG for screenshots, logos, and anything with flat colour or sharp edges. Runs on your own Vistalyth Tools instance. Files never reach a third party.

Features

  • Quality control over the PNG encode, so you choose the size-versus-detail point
  • Batch conversion across a folder of PSD files
  • Metadata and colour profile carried over wherever PNG can hold them
  • Your PSD files are processed on your own server and never uploaded anywhere

What you can do

  • Hand a Photoshop comp to someone who does not have Photoshop
  • Batch a folder of PSD files into PNG in one pass
  • Satisfy an upload form or pipeline that takes PNG and rejects PSD

Self-hosted. Your files never leave your network.

Vistalyth Tools runs entirely on your own infrastructure. Files processed with PSD to PNG are never uploaded to third-party servers. Deploy a single Docker container and process files with full privacy, no watermarks, and no usage limits. Open source under AGPL-3.0.

Frequently asked questions

Will converting PSD to PNG lose quality?
Both formats carry full colour, so the encode quality you pick is the only thing that matters here.
Which quality setting should I use?
Start at the default, then lower it until you can see the difference at the size the image is actually viewed. Most photographs hold up further down than people expect.
Can I go back to PSD afterwards?
You can, and if PNG is lossless the round trip is clean. If PNG is lossy, converting back gives you a PSD wrapper around already-degraded pixels rather than the original.
